The story

To be the best that you can be, this can only be achieved by challenging yourself. Competition is one of the best ways to push your limits. Not only does it challenge us in the ring, but also in life.

It all started in 2006 when Master Jue took a small team to Australia for their first junior world championships. This tournament kickstarted the next 17 years of world level competitions for our studio. With every event attended, our students got a little bit better, more confident, more focused.

Squad has been designed to take our students beyond their comfort zone. Join us on this amazing martial art opportunity!

Goals of Squad

In 2024, Team Jue Elite did an outstanding job competing and developing their skillsets in Taekwon-Do. Students traveled near and far from Alaska to Houston to Philadelphia and brought back many medals.

We are so incredibly proud of each student and how we’ve seen their skillsets develop! That’s what Squad is all about.

  • Preparing students for tournaments - NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY

(World cup, ITF open tournaments, world championships)

  • With Consistent in-depth tournament training + attending more Competitions, you will take your Taekwon-Do skills to the next level

  • availabILITY OF coaches at tournaments

Tentative Timeline

All events are tentative and subject to change.

Tournament Details

Local and National Tournaments:

  • Squad is still committed to attending local and national tournaments if there is interest from the students. While our timeline focuses on the major tournaments that are happening this year, we highly advocate that students should compete as often as possible to improve their skills.

  • This tournament is open to all color belts and black belts

When does Squad start and end?

Squad starts October 2024 and ends August 15, 2025 (completion of the World Championships)

Selection Process

We want to provide the best experience and training to students in Squad and for the selection process to be as fair as possible to students that were part of Squad/Elite as well as new applicants.

How students will be selected

Students will send in a resume outlining their previous tournaments and accomplishments. The tournaments that they are allowed to put on the resume are from 2022 - Present. Students will be awarded points for the tournaments that they attended. Here is the point system below:

  • International tournament - 6 points

  • National tournament - 3 points

  • Local tournaments - 1 point (This excludes in-house tournaments. Tournaments such as Warrior Code and Sonoma may be submitted)

  • Attending outside California Taekwon-Do event - 3 points (This includes seminars such as Hawaii Tul World Summit)

  • Attending inside California Taekwon-Do event - 1 point (This includes events such as the Jue’s Taekwon-Do summer camp)

  • Participating in previous Squad/Elite years - 1 point (Receive 1 point for each year you are in the program)

Students that have accumulated 9 points total will be invited to Squad.

What if I did not compete much last year or I am new to Squad?

Students that do not meet the 9 points will be selected based on random draw. The random draw will include both students that were part of Squad/Elite in previous years as well as new students.

** Due to the large amount of interest in Squad, we would discourage that students who do not plan on attending any national or international tournaments from applying. This allows for more training spots for the students who are dedicated to going **

Things to Know

  • We hope so! However, being part of Squad does not mean you are guaranteed to win and vice versa. The important part is training a lot and being focused while training.

  • No! All students can attend a tournament, regardless if they are on Squad or not.

  • Students focused on competition should be attending the later classes such as the 8 PM class. Before Squad, the only training options our black belts and instructors had were attending weekday classes and black belt class.

  • Students that are not part of Squad will not be able to participate in Squad trainings.

  • No! Squad is all about training and competing as a team. While one of our main tournaments is the World Championships, we aim to provide tournaments and trainings for all ranks and ages.
