Jue’s Taekwon-Do

Where’s the time gone?

Wow!  It’s been a month since I last posted.  A lot of thing has happened, preparing for our 4th Annual West Coast Open.  Thanks to Grace and her organization skills, we were able to finish in record time.  Started at 9 am and finished by 1 pm.  That’s a first… Special thanks for some of our guest, Master Robert Wheatley, VIII Dan, Master Terence Geoghegan, VII Dan, Mr. Chad Morishita, IV Dan, Mr. Jessie Schane, IV Dan, and Mr. Ashley Parr, IV Dan.  Thanks to all the students who participated and Mr. Frank Leung who posted some videos on Youtube, search Jue’s TKD.Just came back from Reno to help out Mr. Ashley Parr with a little demo for a fun run his school participated in.  They must have had 4,000 in attendance.  The Demo was great, with just a little “flesh” wound for Mr. Jason Rosevall did a nice tile break with his hand.  David and I participated in some of the pattern demonstration.  Congratulations to the demo team.  A little rough just driving up and than driving back, but it reminded me of the old days, where we just go to do Taekwon-Do and than head back home.

Up to Wente and run after

Today we headed up towards Wente with a quicker pace than usual, since I was meeting some guys at 10:30 for a mile run (timed). Timmy got a new bike and yes, it is about the bike (sort of). Timmy had been riding with us for a while on a hybrid bike. Today he brought out a road bike and was definitely hanging in there, with the quicker pace. Eileen brought a friend Jenny…. Got back by 10 am, Rose or Eileen got a flat so they weren’t too far behind…. Headed to PMS track and ran with our Ultimate Fitness Challenge. It was the first time I’ve ran in a few years. Came in at 7:44. Well we’ll see how I do in 90 days.

Seminar In Reno with President Choi

Just got back from a seminar with President Choi in Reno, hosted by Master Robert Wheatley.  It was a great seminar.  Also there was Master Trevor Nicholls, Master Terry Batch, Master Terrence Geoghegan, Master Parm Rai and Mr. Chris Reid who tested for 6th Dan.  The course was the one day “Master’s Course” which focused on the development of power and its beauty through the techniques in Patterns.  Well if you missed it this time.  Don’t miss the next one when it comes around….

What a beautiful day for a ride…

Well today we had two groups going out and meeting up at Wente.  It was pretty cool, our first group consisted of Brian, Paul, Bill, Joe, Laura, and Christine.  In the second group, we had me, Grace, Emi, Youngmin, Sangho, Eileen, Frank, Derek, and Timmy on his Hybrid Mt. Bike…. If you’d like to post your thoughts on having two groups go to http://www.juestkd.com/php/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=138  See you next time.

July 20th - Altamont

Well last week we headed over the Altamont, 16 showed up lost 3 riders, 2 of our best riders as they had to head home early and a new rider on a Mt. Bike.   It was windy up there, Emi said it was nice the last time they went up.  Every time I go I’m like getting blown over the road… Anyway, it was fun.  We’re heading out to Wente this week.  Hope you can make it…

Palomares - again

4th of July Weekend…Surprising enough we had quite a few come out. Brian, Bill Cameron, Paul, Emi, Youngmin, Suk, Sangho, Rose. We headed out towards Palomares, I think it was a faster pace… Unfortunately Youngmin took a little spill just before getting on 84. She was trying to avoid a tree branch. Slightly banged up knee but overall was okay and Suk, Emi and Sangho escorted her back home…. Highway 84 is always a little scary even at 9:30 am on Sunday morning. The most memorable moment this time was white van coming so close to clipping me at 50 miles and hour. Brian and Bill were animals as they reach the top faster than anyone else, Brian pushing his Cervelo up the hill in his largest crank ring. Coming down the hill the rattling sound was still there, even though I adjusted the headset, than it dawned on me that maybe my water bottle was loose…. Sure enough, it was loose. Luck Bill bought that new tool the other week. Tighten it down and finish the ride quite… :) Catch you next time.

Little further Down Calaveras

Yesterday was new route for me, as we headed down towards Milpitas via Calaveras.  I’ve heard of rider riding to work that way.  Just had a few problems coming back….Nice ride, there’s a little decent just before Felter Road (you can wee our route at mapmyride.com  http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ca/pleasanton/532826892869) OMG, Brian’s Garmin said something like 18 degree grade, everyone slowed down.  Bill already went down.  I headed down to tell him the group decided not to go, because they knew we’d have to come back up…. Right at the bottom was a stop sign, full braking power and unclipping was a little nerve racking.  So I’m at the bottom, looking back up I’m wondering how am I going to pull myself up and get back into my clips?  Well I did manage.  It was a step climb.  Bill had to clip out and walk, he didn’t quite have the gear ratio.  I pushed up but thinking I’m going to fall if I don’t push it through.  As we’re coming back descending I hear my headset rattling?  I was thinking my head set loose.  Not a good feeling.  Didn’t like the idea that it might be loose so I slowed down and primarily used the back brake.   I asked Bill to try and catch Brian, Paul, Cameron, and Emi to see if they had a tool I could use to fix the noise, but they were long gone…. Funny enough Timmy and Derek showed up.  I was quite impressed that they pushed on.  Told them to turn back, it worked out, I road back with them with Bill and Eileen.  Took it easy since my headset was still rattling.  Got home made some adjustments and hope that took care of the rattle. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Lee for escorting Suarabh back.  He showed up in the morning with a Mountain bike, flat tires and all.  Give him credit for making it to Calavares.

Tough Ride today?

Well I thought Bill and Ruth was going to make it this week and planned a little longer route  for them.  Unfortunately they didn’t make it.  But we did have a couple of new riders come with us Derek, Frank and Timmy.  They did great considering.  Frank’s chain broke and had to coast back to Costco and hitch a ride.  Derek went back with him with his new bike.  Timmy made it through the route with a little aid from Mr. Hester and Jack In The Box.  See his post at http://www.juestkd.com/php/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=80   Weather wasn’t that bad, compared to yesterday.  I think it reached 80 degrees with a slight breeze.  No one had a flat.  Well it was fun and hopefully we’ll see more come out next week.
